The Lamp

Do you remember when we met, our hearts pounding ?
Like long lost friends, it was so easy then,
Passion so strong it felt like trembling pillars
About to fall, and fall I did, without regret !

So simple was the talk, the words a needless chore, in fact !
Our Souls knew we were once again to be in love.
We spent no time in idleness, the fire could not wait
Our Firey longing like a chilhood secret pact.

Our hearts mixed fire like a stormy lightning blast !
A love like ours was beyond ideas of  paths,
And in your arms I was a dream, a sort of vapor~
Your kiss, a drink of wine from olden flasks.

Will you come for me on the wind, my love, in time ?
Before the moments left to breathe here are snuffed out ?
I strain to feel the calm of gratitude and wonder,
When how you've left my heart feels like a ravaged plunder !

Your lips a ghostly ember on my breath at night.
My longing heart beats for your lips to kiss my hair.
So as the crow flies high and cherubs wait the gate,
Sweet Heaven's chariot is in your memory of late !

Although time passes on, the flame of you burns bright~
All there is and more to come are endless nights.
Come back to me, o love ! The lamp is lit !
Beside my bed, for you, and in my heart, as night !
