The Garden

In the Garden

As you look away and back into
My trembling heart
I feel the Clouds lift the Stars to the
Sun and as they kiss In light we hear a
prayer, or a chant, or a song:
"Here only and in this whispered
Truce of jewelelled trees, and
In no other time or place
Is the wind in its lift
Of leaves and small crickets
As they sing,
While the stars ponder our momentous delight !
Is your kiss a spear to the heart !
A dive into the deepest of enemies
is this desire of fire !
And all, who love the Throne of grace,
Fallen at the feet of Glory,
Having been spun by lightning's
Gossamer tears concealed
Behind the veils breathed
By waiting Angels,
Remaining as well nourished
By the Serpent's guard.
Touch and touch as fire, but
Do not eat !"
In understanding,
and breathless from the kiss of all
We breathe, we reach, and deeply
Scurry near the hot coals of disappintment's
Brew of desire's enchantment.
Feel the heat of
Coal's reddened embers of night's
Whispering Owls at the window
Of your our threaded memories.
Touch
But do not eat !
